Style Inspiration: The Spice Girls

When I think of the Spice Girls I think of those explosive girl power pop anthems of my youth  and the wild, eye candy that is Baby, Scary, Sporty, Posh and Ginger.  The Spice Girls spectacularly mash up styles of iconic eras including 60s mod shifts and Go-Go boots, 70s leopard printed jump suits, 90s crop tops and sportswear as well as the vixen fabrics of lace and velvet.  Virtually any girl can rock these bold looks as long as she has equal doses of attitude and awesomeness.
Check out our online shop for hot vintage finds from the 80s and 90s including this Tommy Hilfiger inspired skirt , fuzzy raver tank tops , Mini backpacksssssssss for days and velvet skirts, dresses and tops.  *GIRL POWER *

Inspirational Movie :Liquid Sky

I will never forget the first time I watched Liquid Sky . The colors and costumes were just to my taste and the plot was so strange, I had to watch it twice just to take it all in. The soundtrack is killer. The super saturated colors and new wave angles are a constant inspiration at Kokorokoko. We usually have several pieces that would make the cut for the fashion show near the end of the film.
Pale pink and metallic sculptural heels or a hot pink mesh jumpsuit. Both available in our online shop.

Amazing pair of asymmetrical black and white glasses from the 1980s.
Bold colors in these vintage Bruno Magli heels.
Ungaro always got it right in the 80s. This perfectly purple oversize wool blazer or pink and black asymmetrical dress could be worn by Margaret in the night club. Check our shop for more hot 80s finds and check out Liquid Sky for a dose of alien inspiration.

...And let's not forget the 90s Rave era shop Liquid Sky in New York. Check out this time capsule:

Customer of the Week

That's right, our favorite vintage Cache jumpsuit sold today to a lovely young lady celebrating her 21st birthday! I'm assuming the theme of her party is "cyber race 3001". This piece was featured in our fashion show last year and has held a special place in our hearts ever since. Happy birthday cyber racer!

Inspirational Photo of the Day

Kokorokoko is nothing without their friends. Here we see our old friend and amazing performer from Boston Katya Zamolodchikova dressed a la Lady Miss Kier and posed a la a pretzel. Love it.

Inspirational Graphics

In the 1980s everyone watched Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous and dreamed of being a jet-setting yuppie. Everything from boots to jackets were given "travel patches" meant to evoke the stickers on Victorian era steamer trunks. Everything from T-shirts to ski pants got the travel treatment. At Kokorokoko we are deep into this trend and have a lot of awesome examples of "travel graphics". Like this denim jacket from Jordache:
It is awesome how it is talking about itself on the patch--"balance tailoring makes you look great"...THANKS! You get to wear an ad for the clothing you are already wearing!
Sometimes the graphics were not on patches but directly silk-screened on like this awesome "Club Adventure" bat-wing sleeve crop top with MATCHING PANTS! The guy in the parachute has MEMBERSHIP!! Collegiate fonts, major metropolitan areas, adventure, all of these things spell money$$
This cotton spandex bike onesie is emplasoned with a globe and just like the Jordache is total meta fashion!
...primary colors are so slimming!!
