Back before fast fashion brands ruled the world, it was all about brand names. The Limited was responsible for many of the greatest brand names from the 80s: Victoria's Secret, Limited Too, Structure, Forenza and Express to name a few! We put together some outfits with vintage Forenza and Express below. Although ESPRIT was it's own entity, we've included a look a little bit about that similar, iconic line as well!
THE LIMITED
During the 80s, The Limited went through a massive expansion which spawned many of today's most popular brands. In 1980, the first Limited Express store opened at Water Tower Place in downtown Chicago, which focused on trendy, fashion conscious women and teenagers. (It still does today!) Forenza was a private label owned by The Limited, which also produced comfortable and trendy clothing for women. Prices varied depending on markets, making The Limited a large profit-- enough to acquire several other brands in the 80s as well! These brand were known for being high-quality and trendsetting.
ESPRIT
ESPRIT first got popularized in the 80s when Ettore Sottsass developed the ESPRIT headquarters in Germany in a complete Memphis Design concept. This iconic theme has never left the brand, and pieces from this time period go from fun, casual sportswear to comfy urban street wear.
